At least, that was the plan…
KJ suggested this page should be a sepia-colored photograph, similar to the vintage style of the times, and we were all in agreement that would be best. So, what do we have here? Leilani and David seemingly ready to commit their lives, a standoffish Malana filled with apprehension, a joyful Kalea giving the ceremony as only a shaman-in-training can do, the delighted father, the entourage of tribe and civilians. It all seems like the start of something amazing, doesn’t it?
And it should have been…
We’re winding down this first story arc, Dark Reflections, very soon now, and it’ll also ironically be a time of reflection for us as well. We’re taking off for a week to allow while we work diligently on the next story arc. As much as we want to keep this going, donations and funding haven’t been coming in like we dreamed, so we plan a massive ad campaign this summer to boost things up a bit, and HOPEFULLY keep this going!
We’re also planning a few changes to the website as well. We recently got kicked out of Facebook (since no nudity is allowed – despite the COUNTLESS PORN BOTS TRYING TO SEDUCE YOU, but don’t get us started…), so we’re thinking now is a good time to bring a bit more attention to the site in general, and it starts with a “Short Story” section. Riff wants to bring a lot of the old stories of Leilani and the South Seas to your attention, and we plan a “reading room”, where you can interactively “turn pages” and read each one. We also plan a cool design for the virtual books, that will make it seem like you’re reading old, old journals. So, yes, lots of fun coming!
Also, we can’t say this enough, but keep voting for us, please? We get about 1500 readers a day here right now, and it wouldn’t do you much harm to click this link here, and give us a happy little vote. Votes are GOOD, m’kay?
Your vote keeps us going strong and getting seen, and getting new Patreon pledges so we can bring you guys so much more stuff! Like MERCH! We’re already looking through various catalogs for things to sell on here.
So just DO EET! VOTE! It’s free, no sign-ups or anything, and you can vote daily from any computer, smartphone, tablet, etc. <3

And they live happily ever after for now.
As a budding photographer and appreciator of loving company, I approve of this vintage pre-Kodakchrome photograph’s sepia tones, excellent framing and composition, and the subject matter and folk capturing within! ‘Dark Reflections’ has been a considerable pleasure to follow and read over the last few years, ‘Lani, and I’m tremendously happy with how well-received it’s been as a whole. 🙂
Thank you so much for the kind words, hon. *^^*
We will try to keep this going.
More than pleased to be, to share in such excellent writing and artwork fused into the world you’ve built surrounding your lovely French Polynesian otter-lady I’ve known for quite a while now. It’s always good to be in touch with you, excellent Lei’Lani, and thank you for sharing your own craft and your bountiful kindness with this 2Paw! 🙂
Quite the lovely wedding day picture. KJ did a wonderful job of recreating the Sepia style of photography.
Lani, I have the reminder app on one iPad set to a specific time so that I vote on your comic daily. All washed out to sea( means, please don’t worry)on that front.
I’m glad we have your daily vote, KC, thank you. *^^*
I’m in love with how it looks the sepia coloring really looks perfect for time line and that’s good thinking to keep with that look and feel of the era of photographic elements too,
I am just wondering will the spirit of the island follow them and manifest in other ways to protect them…(incoming nightmarish octopus in some form)
Welll… no, not exactly…this story arc is almost done, it’s not like a giant squid will come along now and gobble up the ship. Stay tuned and please vote daily. *^^*
just a side note… just noticed the photo date… my b-day,, only 44 years later… 🙂
Neat! Happy B-day belated. ^^
I guess I just thought of June 6 because it’s a very important date in history.
What is this piece of shit!?
You’re allowed to be critical of this if you want to. We’re not going to make everyone happy, but we appreciate you visiting at least.
Well this is very sweet and such a lovely choice in color pallet for as an old photograph. I wonder if a character took the picture. It is such a lovely romance. But I am glad you first show us that this arc is a flashback so I can be properly be prepared, emotionally, when it all goes south (one way or another).
I think from the very beginning, I felt it should be a flashback. Of course, folks will argue, if it’s a flashback, how is she remembering others’ thoughts, or events that happen not in her presence. But then I just throw in the standby “suspension of belief” reason. *^^*
Somebody like me has gotta pretend it’s a last page of the chapter as a good happy ending. What if New York city is still unstable with crime.
What if New York city is still unstable with crime?
As far as I’m concerned, that should have been a stopping point, for Pete’s sake.
