Introducing a beautiful new character, Marie-Claire, and we were at odds for a while what to make her. KJ wanted something exotic and rare, Leilani wanted another kitty-cat, and Riff wanted her to be a vixen or skunk. After much debate, we decided to let the audience make the choice, so we looked at the most popular creatures in the furry kingdom right now. Fennec was near the top of the list.

So a fennec she became. And we had a lot of fun deciding what she would look like too!

New characters rock!

Also, a shout-out to Electricfox777 for the use of his character Sly again. You might remember him from earlier in the comic, and we are so pleased to bring him back. More cameos are on the horizon too!

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. We realized from the onset we couldn’t just attract the “furry” audience and hope to make a really big splash. Something else needed to happen.

Then one of our writers, (his name is withheld for security purposes, oh what the heck, it was PAUL, okay?!) thought it might not be a bad idea to show the world what “The Depths” might look like if our otters were fully human. He saw how magnificently popular and sexy the “Jungle Girl” and “Cavewoman” comics have been over the years, and that folks love a scantily-clad, buxom, yet impetuous, courageous and mighty heroine.

And so “Island Girls” was born.

Keep an eye on this one, gang. The artist is none other than Ralph del Mundo, and if you’ve never heard of him, the man is responsible for the artwork in the very popular “Rock and Rock Diesel Zombies” comic – which just got a movie deal.

So, yeah, big deal here. If you are loving “The Depths”, you are going to go crazy for “Island Girls”.

We’re letting Ralph, our talented artiste, storyboard, which he loves to do for movies. We want to do something a little different with this webcomic and it involves perspectives much like you would see if you were watching a movie. The pacing might not be what you expect, but just bear with us. This is our first webcomic designed from the ground up, with no stories or art we can refer to. We didn’t want the same “The Depths” adventure, after all, did we?

That’s why we really want to dazzle with both the brilliance of the art and the structure of the story. Fantastic adventure will be forthcoming.

Just let us get a little set-up going here…

We promise you, it’ll be worth it. ♥

So, we guess everyone is wondering why we brought David back “from the dead”.

Well, first off, we never really established that he was dead, did we?

We needed him still. As much as we really didn’t like the character that much, we needed him because he’s the friction, the tension, not necessarily the bad guy here – but not the all-around good guy either. And he’s about to catapult them all into a new adventure filled with danger, horror, and a little bit of love.

Of course, you’re all also probably wondering something else – why Leilani acknowledges him with all the emotion of someone who, in KJ”s words, “found out she had black olives and not green olives on her favorite sandwich.” *^^*

Well, like we’ve said many times, it’s been 16 years…

We WILL eventually get into the past again, folks, we promise. But now’s not the time.

There is great evil coming…

We were really excited when Ralph was asked to do some water effects for this page, as he’s never done them before.

Frankly, he nailed it…

Sounds like David wants Leilani and her team to dive for him again…

We argued for quite some time what David should be. Leilani wanted him to be military and working for Naval Intelligence, so that’s what we went with. They were in fact dealing with international issues at the time. But if anyone wants to comment and add their knowledge to the discussion, go for it. *^^*

One quick note of caution: this is David we’re talking about here, and he’s not really ever been helpful in laying out details…

And not everything is as it seems…

Well, we’d say Ralph has gotten a knack for underwater scenes now! ♥

Huana has such a playful, impulsive nature, so innocent and naive in some ways. She’s a horny young island girl who probably doesn’t understand the importance of clothes and such – especially when she wants some action.

It’s all very romantic right now but…well, believe us when we say you’re not really going to be happy how this ends… *^^*
