Sorry all, the writers and artist needed a little break for the holidays and to enjoy themselves, and look back on a very exciting year.

We hope everyone appreciates what we’re bringing to the table this year, and we predict 2019 will be our biggest, blow-out year yet. <3

Stay tuned and see you Monday!

A very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all… <3

Just watched Alistair Sim’s “A Christmas Carol” (a.k.a. “Scrooge”) from 1951 (for about the 50th time), and it puzzles me sometimes why this isn’t the most-loved “Christmas Carol” films of all times. Not only did Sim pull off the most foul, most wretched, most cantankerous Ebeneezer Scrooge of the lot, he also does the most memorable, delightful, and tear-jerking turnaround of all time. It is indeed probably the most worthy of Charles Dickens’ classic, and possibly the one he would have adored the most.

I’m reminded of something too, from the film, and it comes courtesy of actor Francis de Wolff as the Spirit of Christmas Present:

“We Spirits of Christmas do not live only one day of our year. We live the whole three-hundred and sixty-five. So is it true of the Child born in Bethlehem. He does not live in men’s hearts one day of the year, but in all days of the year.”

Later on, the spirit tells Scrooge to come with him, so that he can seek the spirit of Jesus Christ in the hearts of those with good will, since he has such a hard time finding it in his own.

There is a truly remarkable, beautiful lesson here. If happiness and contentment are not in our hearts, we can still see it in the hearts of others around us. Whether we witness someone fixing a flat tired for an elderly woman, or we watch two football players from opposite teams giving each other a hug on the field, or allowing someone to go ahead of them in a grocery line…the spirit and love and respect of the man whose birthday we celebrate this time of year is inside. What an incredible world we would have today, if we really did as the Spirit of Christmas Present suggests, and truly live the entire year in this same way.

We really can do it, you know? It just starts with you starting right now, and perhaps going to the store, or a library, or a friend’s house, or even take a walk around the neighborhood, and observe how the true spirit of Christmas is within the people you see. It might take a few tries, but you can see them. They’re smiling, laughing, hugging or kissing, or chatting amiably to others. Christmas for them isn’t just something to celebrate once a year. We might be celebrating the birth of Christ, but…shouldn’t we be celebrating that Christ existed in the first place too? ^^

So think about this message. I’m not even Christian or religious, and even I agree that Christmas should be celebrated every day. That warmth, the giving nature, the feeling of camaraderie, should be inside us every day.

A very blessed Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all – and keep an eye out for a very special “The Depths” Christmas page coming soon! <3

Are you ready to see some animation? *^^*

So, yes, you have to wonder how “The Depths” webcomic could really set itself apart from the literally hundreds of thousands of webcomics out there already. We’ve got a good thing going but, what could we do for an encore?

It’s long been our dream to see Leilani as an animated character, because she would certainly sizzle on the web with her attitude, her voice, her looks, her personality. It’s not too far-fetched to see “The Depths” even becoming a cartoon series – although obviously it could only be on HBO, or Cinemax because of all the breasts. But before we can see those dreams happen, we met someone not too long ago trying to make his own mark in the furry fandom, who is helping us at least achieve a stepping stone – animated webcomic panels.

He goes by OpusFur and has an adorable furry character named Sasha, an arctic vixen. He’s also confidentially a veteran animation professional for film and television and you’ve doubtless seen his work. So, when he contacted us about helping him get more renowned in the fandom, an idea happened.

A wonderful, incredible, awesome idea.

So now Opus provides us with little animation gifts time to time, and the plan is for “The Depths” webcomic to have animated comic panels, exclusively for our Patreon supporters. It’s another way to show our thanks and blessings to those who have helped make this webcomic great, and among the best right now in the fandom. For the luckiest of the supporters however, we’ll be offering even further surprises, like personally animated projects for a nominal fee.

Not to worry, we’ll eventually offer animation to everyone. It’s all very exciting, we know. With animated panels, visual and animated comics, and a web series can’t be too far behind.

The future is very bright indeed right now…

Stay tuned!

So, wow, what a difference a summer makes! Let’s recap, alright? ^^

In April, we parted ways very amicably with Dark Blue Comics, and Leilani will still be story editing for them now and then when asked. We encourage folks to check in on these beautiful comics ABlueDeer has put together, Moonlace and Bethellium, and do share his website with others.

In May, we created “The Shallows”, an off-beat, zany, and sexy one-page comic strip, featuring the gang from “The Depths”, (and several lucky winning cameo characters) to be published monthly and exclusively for the Patreon and prospective furry-only sites.

In June, we started working on the website, with the help of a wonderful designer known as Mihari, who’s been responsible for several furry sites, including the KatBox, which holds a wealth of other really great webcomics as well.

In July, ABlueDeer and Leilani came to terms on when he could move away from pencil work on “The Depths” and get back to his regular work. Already with one child, and another on the way, it was important he focus on his own projects and Patreon. So naturally Leilani started scrambling for a new pencil artist. She reached out to veteran furry artist “Twinkle“, who immediately agreed to join the team, having already been a fan of “The Depths”, and fond of the main character, Leilani. Twinkle enjoys a huge audience for his masterful illustrations, so we all felt he would make an excellent addition for exposure purposes.

Finally, in August, “The Depths” website was complete, and pages started to move over from Dark Blue to here. In this time, Leilani and Riffraff attended two major conventions and managed to build up an even bigger audience for the webcomic.

And there you go. You’re caught up now, and as you can see, “The Depths” drama is rising steadily. The mood and setting is about to change soon however as we head back to the ocean. Leilani, Kalea, Malana, Jamie, and David are all headed for their individual destinies. We’ll also have a few secondary characters coming on board to help.

Get ready.

It’s about to get very deep, and very dangerous…

Hold your breath…
