Well, that suddenly makes a lot more sense. Seems like Malana’s been playing second fiddle, like the veritable Fredo from “The Godfather”.
She’s been passed over for her slightly older sister so many times. We didn’t really give too much of a backstory on Malana, since the two otters are quite different. We thought of making her a founding pup Alana found wandering, and decided to adopt her.
Oh gods, can’t you just see an adorable children’s comic with these two cute otters growing up wild in Bora Bora?
So much squee! Adding the concept to the wish list. Adults can’t have all the fun.

Thank you, Ruku. It was a great last-minute idea we tossed in. *^^* That’s what I love about this comic so far, nothing’s been set in stone and all my hard work of notes and notes suddenly don’t matter anymore. lol
So it’s finally revealed that Leilani and Malana are sisters. One would never guess that they’re related.
And yet, it could probably have been hinted at early on, maybe towards the beginning, when Kalea refers to Leilani as the daughter of their chieftain, and Malana seems to get pretty angry quickly. *^^* Refer to page 12
