So! Jack had some air, and energy left, and Fear-of-Death is a great motivator . Huana still looked worried, until he spoke. I still think, after the previous panel, he would not have reached the surface first, motivated or not, if she had not hung back to make sure he did. Huana is, so far, too polite to voice her concern, but she did not “GASP,” or show any degree of distress [other than for Jack.] When he’s not caught up in the flood of emotions, and hormones, he will remember that.
rest assured, this romantic scene is about to take a dark turn, unfortunately. *^^*

The predations, and literal Plagues, brought by Whalers, were in the early 1800’s. The cultural predations of English Protestant, and French Catholic Missionaries slightly later in the 19th Century. That darkness was not in Huana and Jack’s time. Is this Darkness more immediate, and personal?
Side question- Is the spoken part of Huana’s Romantic Seduction actually in French?
